Robin Coon - Provider of Dyslexia Instruction

Welcome!

I’m Mrs. Coon, and I’m proud to support students through the MTA (Multisensory Teaching Approach) program here at Smithson Valley Middle School. I have a passion for helping students with dyslexia gain confidence and skills through structured, research-based reading instruction.

I began my journey in Comal ISD in 2016 as a paraprofessional in an Essential Academic setting at Specht Elementary. In 2019, I joined the special education team at Smithson Valley Middle School and soon after earned my teaching certification in Special Education and EC–8 Core Subjects. I began teaching Reading Strategies during the 2022–2023 school year and now work exclusively with students in the MTA program.

My goal is to help every student feel successful and supported in reading. I love sharing books, building skills, and celebrating progress, no matter how big or small. I believe that with the right tools and encouragement, every student can learn to enjoy reading.
