It has become a tradition that students, teachers and the community look forward to every year - Veterans Day. Normally, celebrations occur on every Comal ISD campus, and while this year's celebrations were altered a bit, they still brought the community together to remember those who fought for our freedom.

It was National Signing Day for four student-athletes from Canyon High and five student-athletes from Smithson Valley High. With families, teammates and coaches looking on, they took the next step in their athletic careers.

Smithson Valley Middle School is pleased to honor the men and women of our armed forces with our Hallway of Honor.

It is National School Psychology Week, and the perfect time to shine a spotlight on the 22 Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSP) who serve in Comal ISD.

The Texas Art Education Association selects student artwork from across the state annually for a special exhibit. This year Comal ISD was represented in that exhibit with the artwork of eight students on display.

For the rest of the school year, you can save a lot of time and money by having your kids enjoy a free breakfast or lunch at school every day.

As students enter middle school, they begin to put their future dreams into action. The question of, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" begins to take shape. By the time they enter high school, they are provided opportunities to "try out" those dreams. Comal Compass is Comal ISD's program that gives those dreams direction and more.

Many of the vocational classes offered today at high schools are not your typical electives. Comal ISD's Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, like Health Science, are part of a multi-faceted, modern curriculum that provides students with the technical knowledge and real-world skills they need to get started in a current or emerging profession.

Coaches and players watch highlights from football games weekly. That's how they improve. One play, however, from Davenport High School's first homecoming game has gone viral, and the lessons it teaches improves everyone's outlook on humanity.

If your child is moving from Remote Learning to On-Campus instruction this week and was loaned a laptop or other device, we ask that these devices be returned as your child comes back to school on Oct. 21.
